About Indonesia

Indonesia is a country in Southeast Asia and lies in the equator. It comprises of 17,480 islands (including 9,634 small islands and 6,000 unnamed islands which are uninhabited) and has the fourth longest coastline in the world (after USA, Canada and Russia) with a length of more than 95,181 km.

Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country with a vast sea of three-fourths of the land area and has more than 400 volcanoes include 130 active volcanoes. Some of them is on the seabed under sea surface. Indonesia’ islands is a meeting point of two series of active volcanoes (Ring of Fire). This combination supports this country as the world’s second highest level of biodiversity. And it is certainly have a many incredible natural beauties. People called it “Emerald of Equator”.

Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous country (around 230 million people). Its national motto, “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (“Unity in Diversity”), represents the diversity of distinct ethnic, linguistic, cultural and religious groups.
